Litha, Summer Solstice - 21st June
Cernunnos, Lord of the Beasts
At Midsummer the hot sun shines the longest and reaches the highest point in the sky. At the Summer Solstice, the longest day is celebrated at many places including Stonehenge, where Neolithic people constructed their great temple, recording and predicting celestial events and acting as a focus for seasonal gatherings.
Now lush growth is all around and life is at its most abundant.
'Summertime and the living is easy!'
The creatures of the sky and forest, protected by the Celtic 'Lord of the Beasts', Cernunnos, are everywhere to be seen, rejoicing in the long summer days and balmy nights.
