Thor
Son of Odin, red haired and red bearded Thor is associated with storms, thunder and oak trees. Thor wields the red hot, mountain crushing hammer Mjolnir, grasped in his iron gauntlets Jarngreipr, while around his waist is Megingjord the magical belt which doubles his strength. Thor is sometimes portrayed in a chariot pulled by two goats.
Thor features in legends battling with many foes, most notable with the serpent Jormungandr which is foretold to be his doom at Ragnarok, the fate of the Gods.
The protective amulet Thor's Hammer is worn by many pagans who follow the Northern Gods. Thursday is Thor's day and many place names in England also bear the name Thor e.g Thundersley = Thunor or Thor's Meadow.
